Denim day!

DENIM is definitely our favourite piece of clothing… You can match it with everything. You can make an outfit more casual or just a bit more edgy…

Every season there will always be new designs & styles. But personally I think that with denim for boys you should keep it simple.

It depends on the washing though. Is it soft or firm… I really don’t understand why some designers always put big pockets on the side or… and, that’s horrible, … they put zippers in the pockets. I mean why? It’s really uncomfortable to sit on. At least let it be comfortable, unless you want a total mini-me… uhm you…

Comfortable, simplicity in style and excellent fabrics are for me the most important. And yes you can buy that too @ H&M. A lot of times they have just that ‘one good piece of denim’. For boys, at the denim section, you can choose skinny, slim, slim generous or relaxed… They are really good at using different denim washings and fabrics through the seasons.

And let’s be honest…, with boys, the denim is destroyed in no-time. So I prefer affordable versions for playing outside and a good cut and style by a designer for special occassions.

On our holiday to Copenhagen/Vesterbro, last October, this is what we had in our suitcase… denim… and we bought some cool lollipops at Tivoli… the coolest funfair ever…!

p.s. denim shirts are the coolest, especially for a one year old, almost bursting out of this version. Did I talk about comfort?

Tetris in wool!

In Paris I met Maya Bekto, one of the owners of Wool Fabrique. In ‘her shop’ at Playtime Paris, she was surrounded by all beautiful woolen products. All looked very firm but felt really natural. The TETRIS version carpet from real wool was the one we wanted to take home immediately! A real wannahave for mums and dads who’ve played this game over a thousand times, back in the days. And what I really like is that they’ve also made baskets out of these carpets… and cubes and bags. So really cool to store all the tons of toys in.

Besides that, it’s eco friendly which is a big plus for us! Made in Bosnia, where her sister  & co-owner is arranging the production. They continue the tradition of weaving which was always present in that region. With ecologic and organic farming they hope to contribute to smart growth and sustainable living in that country. I think they’re doing really well! Best of both worlds!

Crys & Sasha Worley – A.skate

as_skate_AS0Sasha1_2048

Sometimes you bump into subjects & stories which will hit you real hard.
In a good way though… It makes you more aware, even if you already are.
It brought me to tears.
This is such a beautiful story…

Offthewall.tv by VANS presented a video, a while ago, called ‘Vans Presents Pass the Bucket with Crys Worley’.
Directed by Eliot Rausch

It’s the story of an incredibly strong and beautiful mum, Crys Worley, and her beautiful son Sasha.
He’s autistic. He’s a nine year old boy, living in his own world
and everybody close around him is dealing with his special needs.
In this documentary you can see with which she’s struggled so much in the past
and what’s driven her to be so strong and passionate about her organization A.skate.

The thing that actually brought me to tears was
Crys telling that all she wanted was her son TO ACKNOWLEDGE HER …
and now THROUGH SKATEBOARDING HE DOES.

Today, 1:88 kids are diagnosed with autism, from which 1:58 are boys.

With her organization A.skate she makes it possible for autistic children to open up
and be part of the social world through skateboarding.
And at the same time it’s therapy for the parents, because they feel like outkast.
And normally don’t know where to go. Now they do.
There are free clinics throughout the country (USA).
But her hope is to make it possible for all the autistic children in the whole wide world.
I support that and you can too. Go to A.skate and find out about this fantastic driven organization
to make our kids world more beautiful!

Please watch the video, which is so worth watching until the end… and HELP SUPPORT AUTISM!

I grew up with an autistic brother, I’m a mum and I also know what they give you back…
Pure little things who happen to be pretty big in life.
And I know the skateboarding scene, so I recognize a lot… and feel like I’m so proud of her and everybody involved…

I will post more about this, especially about Heartchild,
a documentary film made by Ben Duffy and Michael Sassano, chronicling the tireless work of Crys Worley and her charity, A Skate.

Cookie monsterrrrr…

Sesamestreet’s cookie monster will all eat this without even looking…, we know for sure! But we instead, prefer to FRAME this! Aren’t this the coolest cookies ever? I mean the polaroid-cookies with your own picture on it… big wow! Although personally the camera and Ray-Ban is nr.1 for us! It’s made in El Paso (USA) by a beautiful stylish delicacy sweets-shop called Manjar. They can ship it to you where ever you live… So we think we will order this for someone’s birthday soon!

Groovy sweatshirt

Sometimes some items will always catch my eye, for instance SWEATSHIRTS. I mean it’s an archetype of clothing for boys. And will never get bored.

This kid caught my eye, while searching for nice items! Especially his cool hairdo together with his stylish sweatshirt. The beautiful imitation leather shoulderpieces and the choice of colours makes it special. It’s different and certainly a wannahave for us!

And this cool boy happen to have a cool mum who’s having a brand and blog called Groovy baby and mama. She is designing for boys and girls in her very own way. But we really like this SWEATSHIRT in particular! So we’re going to follow them, to see if we spot another sweatshirt with it’s own identity to supply our collection.  Thanks bro for being so cool!

Unique gangsters… very french!

Very stylish, comfortable, desirable unique and that made of a remarkable quality.  I saw it with my own eyes at Playtime (and that without glasses)… This brand is something our boys would love to wear. You will be so cool… , obviously, with the sunglasses. But yes I’m convinced that nowadays wearing eyeglasses is cool too. In this upcoming year they will also launch a junior version (10-14 years). So every kid between 3-14 will find their personal flavour to spice up their identity. Kids are lucky with the wide range they can choose from.

Visit Very French Gangsters to find out yourself and enjoy the cool pictures of Sophie Le Gendre too!

Not another tattoo!

Playtime Paris appeared to be ‘a Candy store’. Meeting a lot of nice, little, independent brands, which we really like. One of them is Tattyoo from Switzerland. A happy, creative, funny and special brand. Specialized in one thing: TATTOOS! Luckily for us parents…, it’s not permanent!

They work with a lot of famous artists and illustrators, which makes the tattoos as contemporary as it can be. This version is from Notanotherbill saying ‘not another tattoo’, so funny!. Nice detail: they can even print your own design!

We’ve got a few (lucky lucky), so here’s the result! And if you order tattoos for your boys, get yourself a few too!

Favourite place by luckyboysunday

A big wowwwwwwww we’ve yelled, when we saw this beautiful stylish playhouse with this graphic coloured roof (we would love to have a sweater like that!). Actually we prefer the blue version, but this picture says it all. So we don’t care about the colour. We care about the vibe of this photograph, style and the big ‘wowwww’ factor of the product! Also from one of our favourites: luckyboysunday!
