HAIR! … Two boys in the house who love to have their hair look awesome,
need a hairdresser every six weeks. YES! Unfortunately… (for my wallet…)
Once in a while they’re changing hairstyles, but are still playing save.
Because they don’t like to stand out and have people look at them all the time.
They’re the more shy versions of boys… and they should listen to that.

However, as an editor and former professional photographer,
I love to look for the best hairstyles,
keeping an eye on what’s happening. Get inspired!
That’s my job… Not theirs.

So, I don’t want to push my boys to hard with choices.
They have a certain age where they can decide themselves…
Shaping their own identity.
Although I always try
(at least, which they think is annoying).

Luckily I have my Pinterest-boards, haha!
‘Boy, love your hair!’  is a favourite.
There you see the changes in styles for boys in one.

AND I MAKE A LITTLE JUMP
FINDING THESE GORGEOUS IMAGES…
So, I have to share…

It is so contemporary.
A boy who still got a haircut, the hair in his face…
wearing cool black earrings.
Beautifully photographed, in a way, you can see every detail.
And if you see every detail, you need the best team.
Although it looks as a simple photograph, as in ‘the form’…
You only see a boy in a white tee…
But it’s not simple at all. It is in a way minimalistic.
Here are all the talented professionals coming together,
giving their best performance without ego. It doesn’t have to be a circus.
It is the (fine) magic of the whole team.

Thank you for inspiring us!

THE VERY TALENTED team, for Milk Enfant China.

WOLF & RITA – FREEDOM BLUES
Collection AW 2020

Full of beautiful contemporary printed shirts and (zipped) hoodies,
comfy pants with stripes, or in corduroy or in (soft) cotton,
jackets with cool artistic badges or in herringbone (our favourite),
onesies in corduroy and a more glamourous version in
gorgeous metallic greenish (yes yes!),
and some cool snapbacks for the kids who love accessoiries.

Here you can learn about styling and mix and match. Away from the
save styles. Although, if you prefer uni and basics, like we do,
there are still a lot of beautiful very well made styles left.
And if you LOVE prints and vibrant colours,
this is one of the collections you need in your wardrobe.
For boys/kids, to create their ‘own identity.’

Freedom Blues’, the name of this stunning collection of Wolf & Rita
senses all kinds of ‘feelings’ and it’s true. It has such a different meaning
at this moment right now. Last january (’20), when we saw this beautiful collection
already live in Paris, we could have never guessed we would end up
in this extremely global situation.

‘Summer 2020’

What a strange and weird time in our history. Due to the virus
and the following lock-downs obviously. But we think more important,
due to one of the most difficult and painful topics of our time, RACISM.
It makes us realise that we didn’t grew as much as we hoped for, in society.
A sad conclusion. We personally are so fed up with people who can’t accept
any individual different than themselves on this planet. Always let their fear
be leading into their actions. We are all humans on one planet.
We should take care of each other, learn from each other.
Maybe we are not there yet at all,
but at least we are heading towards ‘a new chapter’.

The importance of deepening the dialogue, to really ‘listen’ to each other,
especially to the ones in pain, to become more aware, absorb knowledge,
be warm-hearted. And most important know the history and what some
‘HEROES’ had to go through… to make sure it will never happen again!
We can learn from all of this, so it didn’t happen for nothing.

Wolf & Rita have their own hero, the amazing artist William “Bill” Traylor.
FREEDOM BLUES is a tribute to this master. He is regarded today
as one of the most important American artists of the twentieth century.

William was born into slavery and worked his whole life,
after the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, as a farm laborer in rural Alabama
and later as a shoemaker and factory worker in Montgomery.
It was only then, homeless and in his eighties, that Traylor began making drawings
and paintings on paper, using gouache and other media.

His works, he left behind more than one thousand pieces of art,
depicting cats and dogs, rabbits, street figures, dancers, and other characters,
are visually striking, simple and yet powerful.
Traylor’s vibrant imagery and colour palette inspire and compose the patterns
created for Wolf & Rita’s Autumn-Winter 2020 collection.

Traylor would not live to see the civil rights movement
but he was contemporary to those who laid its foundation.
To those, then, agents of social change
and to those acting today they wish to pay homage.

You will understand that this particular collection of Wolf & Rita is here,
without expecting, at the right place and at the right time.
A beautiful tribute to someone who wasn’t aware at the moment,
what he would have accomplished and had given to the world.
How wonderful and heartwarming we can enjoy his beautiful work now…

A big ‘chapeau’ for following your heart and gut feeling, lovely Wolf & Rita.

Wild hairy friend…

200205_WILD_ANIMALS_PANDA_ROPVANMIERLO_02200205_WILD_ANIMALS_PANDA_ROPVANMIERLO_00

Literally every single day…, we get inspired.
Most of the time they are small things which sometimes happen to be big.
By our city life, the news, designers, artists, musicians and our everyday world.

But sometimes there are moments we really get surprised
and we literally yell WOWWW!!!

Today Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo will present ‘the first object’
from his (and Remco van der Velden’s) new brand W.I.L.D.A.N.I.M.A.L.S.
In St. Moritz, Switzerland at NOMAD.

The book WILD ANIMALS (2010) made him famous all over the world.
Sold in MoMA in New York, Design Museum London
and late Colette in Paris, amongst others.
You will recognize his work immediately once you know it…
‘Hairy’ animals. In a very special water paint technique… Gorgeous work!
But our personal favourite is the book SOME LOGIC
which we also sold in our POP-Up in 2014.

With his new brand ‘WILDANIMALS’
Rop is experimenting with his paintings in new techniques and materials.
And the first result is a PANDA RUG! Not just a rug…
‘THE PANDA RUG’…’THE’ PANDA! from Some Logic!
Handtufted in collaboration with Karen Zeedijk/TextielLab.

We’re still in a WOWWW!

There’s a NEW KID (store) in town.
Already Amsterdam-based, but now we can visit In-Yeo (and her team)
in her own shop with all her founded ‘treasures’
she would also love to sell, besides her own collection.

Repose AMS is in the celebrating mood these days.
Not just for the sweet, lovely, handsome and inspiring store
But also for launching something that was missing in her 2-14 collections…
“an ode to all the beginnings”…
The loveliest BABY COLLECTION!

In-Yeo started this lovely brand 5 years ago,
when she was searching for the perfect knitted blanket.
She gained fame with that particular blanket which is, obviously, still available.
And always will be… Should we say; “Never change a winning team!”

To celebrate the 5th birthday of REPOSE, this loved worldwide kids brand,
will launch MINIKIN today.

And since you can actually enter an ‘offline’ store,
where you can finally touch every item…You should visit if you can…
Once already we called her the colour-master,
but now we can add her choice of fabrics as a top skill too.
Find out yourself…

Minikin is a one off baby collection in celebration of the 5th anniversary of Repose AMS.
Baby basics with a soothing and comfy fitting in soft and earthy tones:
warm caramel, sea stone, warm white and kind clay
Basic pieces: baby suites, onesuit, longsleeve, pants
and some knitted items as a cardigan, bloomer  and
a bonnet for everyday use all day every day.

Items are all made of carefully chosen fabric 100% gots organic ribbed jersey,
100% woven double gauze, and 100% oeko tex certified merino wool
which are all very soft and comfortable that can embrace
and endure all new beginnings.

want.
touch.
grow.
move.
connect.
doubt.
fall.
pose.

Come by and say hello or check these beauties in the REPOSE store in Amsterdam.
Molukkenstraat 25 (East side of the city)

p.s. We will warn you, you will want everything ; )
But think wisely, … hahaha!

Rainy days

KidsWearMagazine_Orange_Crush_Rachelle_Simoneau
The first kids magazine I’ve ever read was Kid’s Wear Magazine.
Can you believe it, launched in 1995.
Started reading this around 2003 when ‘the oldest cool head’ was born.
And until today it is so inspiring and still ahead of the game.
I believe because they guide themselves and stay true to their vision.

We came across this image of the editorial Orange Crush.
So, we thought let’s highlight what we love.
And now while it’s raining outside, it makes it even more suitable …
Even though we can’t find any drop (of water)…

That’s what we love. It’s from a summer-editorial
and you can’t figure that out. Nothing needs to be photographed literally.
It’s graphic, minimalistic with brilliant styling and light!
Chapeau!

Thank you so much Kid’s Wear! (and team)
for being our ‘creative shizzle’ (haha!)

Have a wonderful weekend lovely YOU!

This cool ‘7-year-old’ will wake you up!

0612 09181301We follow this cool UK family for quite some time now.
Recently they’ve moved to California for the career of dad,
Artist/Director FILFURY.

And they’ve just launched their stunning new work, a music video,
for MJ COLE + CEDRIC GERVAIS + FREYA RIDINGS,
called ‘Waking up, the remix’.
Starring their oldest son, Bow, 7 years old.
Again,  he’s a rising star…

Watch this, it is BEYOND COOL!

Very curious about the way they’ve created this.
Can we please have a behind-the-scenes?

You can also see this rising star in the previous music video
of MJ Cole, waking up..

So, at the start of this new school year
and getting back in our daily routine (it will take a while),
maybe you need to watch this sometimes…
To wake everybody up in the morning!

It worked for us…

Director: FILFURY
Star: Bow

A big thanks to MAMAFURY
for being so inspiring!

BOYSMANS – the high-end streetwear we were waiting for!

A20A9A814A1611

Jamiroquai, 1993, pops into my head,
while scanning these inspiring images
of this BRAND NEW HIGH-END street label BOYSMANS.
Is it the bucket hat, the fabrics, or the tracksuit?
Only beautiful gorgeous fabrics. I mean a ‘corduroy’
which looks like it’s blown up 500%…
Contemporary tropical prints, army print, leopard, teddy bears,
checkered prints all combining rich high-end fabrics.

Conclusion. Jamiroquai on Spotify now, thanks to Caroline’s newest kid in town!
Of course, we don’t have to figure out where the inspiration for this
Belgian kids designer comes from. It doesn’t really matter.
What does matter is that she followed her guts
and brought us a whole new tremendously inspiring collection.
Without boundaries.! With the focus on boys!

We’re celebrating right now because this hardly ever happens.
So can’t choose one particular image.
We want to show them all.

Caroline Bosmans. Designer of the stunning kids brand
CRLNBSMNS was metaphorically ‘waiting’ for something like this…
A high-end streetwear label for boys (also cool for girls).
But since it never appeared, she decided to start this new label herself,
called BOYSMANS. What a brilliant name you came up with Caroline!

A real collection, not just a bunch of clothes,
where fabrics are V.I.P.! Isn’t that the best?

The first drop is officially launched already on August 8th.
You have to follow this anyway! Just a big tip from us…
If you love your boys to dress more individually.

TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.1TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.4TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.5TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.3TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.6TCH_Jaguar_E-PACE.2

Colours and tones of green are flashing by…
Landscapes are changing rapidly, while we are enjoying our own world.
Just us… with our playlist and our sing alongs… driving to new memories.

… Such a wonderful feeling …

A little note first.
You haven’t heard from us for a long time, due to private reasons.
Which really puts everything into perspective.
And makes you wonder… Searching for moments to enjoy
are suddenly more important than anything else.
And to be actually in ‘that moment’. A realisation.
Especially with #allthatmatters. My boys.

One moment of pure joy, personally (ok hard to admit…),
is driving beautiful cars. It’s making my heart race.
Still in a healthy way though. It really calms me down.
Due to total ‘freedom’!
…to drive wherever we want. Anything is possible.

Moments with granddad, who is diagnosed with dementia,
are really #allthatmatters.
An artist enjoying his own ‘simple pure’ life. Just an unexpected visit
and coffee at his tiny little terrace is giving us all joy! Because every time
he sees us he is happily surprised. You see it gives him a sparkle.
Really, when that happens I always feel like, can we please stop time!
But to be honest, it is also energy-absorbing. Afterwards I’m also tired,
because it also hurts to see (grand)dad like this.
When we drive away afterwards, we are enjoying the ride
and forget the painful part immediately.

Travelling with the boys is the best. Especially on a long trip,
like we’re in a roadmovie. A lot of scripts and stories
are popping into my head. We’re in motion and we’re together.
In our own little world. Which is pretty rare lately.
The boys have an age difference of 8 years
and the oldest is slowly getting his own life, step-by-step.
So we cherish moments like these big time.
And to get him travelling with us makes it easier
when the circumstances are very interesting.
Let’s say, the way we travel… That’s the way it works at 16.

While we were lucky enough to drive this
gorgeous Jaguar E-Pace in Borasco Grey,
it wasn’t a tough decision for him to join us this time.

So, back to this love…
Even if ‘automotive’ doesn’t make you jump of joy,
you will understand that a P200 2.0 AWD Aut. R- Dynamic S.
must be a pretty impressive version. And that’s an understatement.
This beauty looks small comparing to her big brother,
the F-Pace, but in real life it’s a compact ‘fast car’ with the same impact,
just smaller in size. Which personally is easier to handle.

When you slowly get this ‘jag’ in motion, you immediately will feel the power.
There’s a steadiness in turns while driving… You feel like you ‘hover’ the roads…
An unwind-moment. Better than yoga? Well it’s from a different perspective.
In your busy life looking for silent moments to load your battery,
this feels like one to me…

The beautiful lines…
The brilliant colour, Borasco Grey.
A ‘shark’s fin’ as a roof mounted antenna… How brilliant.
Such a cool piece integrated in these innovating car brand.
The bold gloss black honeycomb grill is a favourite part of this design
and it gives the car this sporty contemporary look.

A classic luxury car brand which we know for decades,
with their typical elegant styles,
coming up with new versions is sometimes not the design we hope for.
Because it’s hard to find a balance in the contemporary design,
without losing the sophistication of the well-known versions.
But this one… I fell a bit in love… to be honest.

Technical wizardry, we enjoy big time;
*automatic button to open the boot-lid. It is your personal assistant.
You will be happy when you arrive with too many groceries.
*loading the batteries of all the devices while driving… We can’t live without it…
It makes our driving life easy, comfortable and safe.
The whole dashboard-panel is one bright friend.
And we’re already used to all this brilliance, like for example
a camera scanning danger for you. But for us it is still a lot of joy.

Another example of technology which made our heart jump a bit,
is this… When standing in the dark or even the dim,
this brilliant car is giving you a light. Like (yes yes) an assistant again.
And that’s not just it… In this light you will see the outline
of a jaguar and her little baby… It is all about the details and details only!
Everything is incredibly stylish and sophisticated and yet so contemporary.

We know we didn’t talked about the detailed driving performance,
engine and pk’s, pretty important we know…
But you know what. We leave that to the experts themselves.
JAGUAR.
It must be already much to see us ‘over the moon’ about this,
so we just stay close to ourselves and talk about the experience,
the design, innovative details and stuff, something we really felt for…

That’s what we will remember.
#oursecretcarcrush

The whole experience is one to love.

p.s. Many many many thanks to
Aldo van Troost (Jaguar Nederland),
for trusting us with this beauty!
Very very much appreciated!

The Jaguar E-PACE D150 2.0 is available from €53.250,00
The version we drove is € 80.669,00.

CIFF-KIDS_03_138_high_sRGB

This new campaign for CIFF KIDS is again one to love.
Photographer Dennis Stenild is always surprising us
with new work. Never the usual, always inspiring…
And yet very minimal…

Details in the spotlights without screaming it.
All the models have freckles (which is our favourite!)
wearing a white tee and a denim. Shot in black & white.
That is all you need… Oh well…
and this talented team. ; )

A little lesson about observing and enjoying pure beauty!

The legendary Jean-Michel Basquiat has all the room to shine here…
Last friday the Basquiat x Bellerose collection was launched.
A tee collection for grown-ups and kids from the Belgian brand Bellerose.

The archetypisch tee is enough for Bellerose, which we find very loveable…
No brand-ego…! Karmapoints!
The work of the artist is enough.

All you see is the artwork. A raw portrait.
We have a big preference for this white tee version.
Like a white canvas with art. Let’s stay with the artist.
No distractions.

The fun part is that my creative youngest son said,
“what an odd drawing”, hahaha!
He loves to draw himself, so beforehand I thought,
he would at least have sympathy for this artwork.
But he was very outspoken about this one.

Obviously he’s not familiar with the work of this famous artist from NYC.
But I love the sincerity of kids. They drop their primary opinion instantly.

So back at ‘my point of view’ again;
which is… ‘the believe that we looooove our kids
to wear stuff we want to wear ourselves.’
We don’t want to admit, but isn’t that all driving us?
Secretly shopping a mini version…? What do you think?

Have a lovely Monday y’all!
